Game of Thrones 7x02 'Stormborn' TV TALK

This was a very technical episode with lots of scheming and planning which is what Game of Thrones does so well. The whole thing is like chess- trying to think ten steps ahead of your enemy. However, it wasn't all strategy as we had a pretty awesome and brutal fight scene at the end of the episode which is yet another thing that this show excels at.

SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD

Dragonstone
At Dragonstone, Varys gets questioned by Dany as a sort of test of his loyalty and... I think he passed pretty well. I think Varys is such an interesting character because he doesn't claim loyalty to Daenerys but to the realm and what's best for the people. At the moment, the best option for the realm is Daenerys in his eyes. I think Varys is maybe one of the only good characters because he genuinely wants what's best for the realm.

Melisandre turns up and tells Dany of the prince who was promised and I had to laugh when Missandei butts in. Missandei informs us that the translation is wrong and that it's more accurately 'the prince or princess who is promised' and this just makes Melisandre even more fickle because she gives the title to every damn person she comes across!
Melisandre advises that Dany summon Jon Snow to make an alliance and Tyrion vouches for Jon. Oddly, I'd completely forgotten that Tyrion and Jon had even met... it was so long ago! Such a simpler time! Dany sends a raven to get Jon to come to Dragonstone and bend the knee.
We get to see Dany and many others plotting their next moves and it's so much fun! It's cool to see so many split characters in the same room- Dany, Tyrion, Ellaria, Yara, Olenna... everyone's coming together and it's awesome! With Tyrion's advice, Dany decides not to attack King's Landing as foreigners coming to burn everyone down with dragons is exactly the angle Cersei's going to use to unite loyalty against the foreign Queen Dany.
So, at the moment, the plan is for the Unsullied to take Casterly Rock- a Lannister stronghold- while the Tyrell and Dorne armies siege the capital from all sides. Missandei gets a goodbye from Grey Worm before he leaves for Casterly Rock and they basically admit their feelings for each other and it's beautiful! They kiss and, man, I ship them so much.

Winterfell
Jon receives the note from Sam that Dragonstone sits on a mountain of Dragonglass so it seems a sensible idea to go and meet Daenerys. Davos also makes the startling point that dragons and their fire would be vital in defeating the white walkers so... it looks like we're going to try and ally with Dany... which sounds awesome!
Jon leaves the North in Sansa's hands while he's gone which is great because, in my opinion, Sansa should be the Queen in the North anyway! She's much smarter than Jon and I think she'd be a great a ruler.

King's Landing
We don't spend much time in the capital but we do see Qyburn showing Cersei his newest creation- the Scorpion. It's basically this giant spear that they're planning to use against the dragons. Cersei's certainly pulling out all the stops.

The Citadel
Sam meets Jorah in this episode and I completely forgot that Jeor Mormont even existed and that Sam would know of Jorah's house! Sam uses a forbidden procedure to heal Jorah of his greyscale and... ouch. It looked real painful. But at least Jorah can go back to Khaleesi's side! Because we all know how... vital Jorah's advice is. Where would we be without him?

Arya
Arya's on her own little mission, headed to the capital to kill Cersei, and I love how she meets Hotpie again! What a blast from the past. Hotpie tells her that the Boltons no longer hold Winterfell and that Sansa and Jon are there now and Arya changes her course. Yay, we're gonna get a reunion!! Please, God, a reunion! I've waited patiently for way too long.
Arya also crosses paths with Nymeria again! Wolves surround her but Nymeria stops them from hurting her. I really wish Nymeria had stayed with Arya. It was a lovely moment to take in how much both of them have changed but it was sad to see Nymeria just turn and go. Arya realises Nymeria now has her own pack to look after and... it was a bittersweet reunion.

Greyjoy
Dorne and the Greyjoys are on a ship headed for the capital to start their plan for Daenerys and... they don't get very far. Ellaria and Yara are getting it on (which I totally would've shipped if they'd had more time together) when the uncle of the year interrupts. Oh, how I equally love and despise you, Euron.
Euron and his fleet attack them and what an awesome fight scene it was! This is what I watch Game of Thrones for: absolute carnage. Euron is such a brutal fighter and even kills on the Dorne girl with her own whip! It's pretty cool.
He holds Yara at knifepoint and Theon, the little bitch, runs off like the little coward he is. I can't even express how much I hate Theon with all my being. I felt so betrayed and humiliated for Yara when Euron mocked her. Theon had such a chance for redemption and he freaking stacked it.
Yara, Ellaria and one of the Dorne girls are kidnapped by Euron and he plans to take them to Cersei as a peace offering. You know, most girls like flowers, some like chocolates but, oddly enough, I think Euron's spot on with giving Cersei her enemies to torture. You gotta admire the guy's dedication...
