Nothing major happened in this episode but we followed many different character plots, tracking down all the little groups scattered across Westeros and catching up with how they are.

SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD
We start season 7 with an outstanding opening... Arya wearing Walder Frey's face and poisoning his entire house!!! I absolutely loved this. It was gory, meaningful and satisfying- everything GOT excels at. It's so interesting to see how far Arya has come and to see the power of deception she can wield by wearing other people's faces- it's terrifying and exhilarating! It brings so many possibilities!!!
She doesn't do much during the rest of the episode other than stumble across a few soldiers and meets Ed Sheeran!! Small world! And yes, I watched the episode with subtitles and, whenever Ed spoke, it literally said Ed so... that's his genius character name. Arya says she plans to kills Cersei and they all laugh... what's with all the underestimating of strong women!!!
We then see Bran, all three-eyed-ravened out and Meera. They've finally made it to the Wall (*let's take a moment to appreciate Meera's strength to drag them both there*) and he's coming with the lovely message that the Night King is not messing about and is a very real threat. Such a ray of sunshine, Bran.
At Winterfell, Jon is struggling to make plans for the white walkers' inevitable attack. He's trying to find Dragonglass which is the only thing that can kill the white walkers. He also instructs that both men and women will be required to fight which Lady Mormont immediately supports and I just gotta say... I love that girl. She stands up for herself and it's empowering!
I think there's going to be a very interesting power balance in Winterfell this season. Sansa openly questions Jon's decisions about the traitors who worked with Ramsay and I'm so proud of her! She's smart and strategic and honest which is exactly what Jon needs because, let's face it, our good ol' King in the North has made some pretty poor decisions in the past.
Despite Sansa's very good arguments, Jon ignores her. I find it so interesting how we see Baelish surveying the whole scene. I think he'll play such an integral role in encouraging Sansa to grow in the hierarchy of power... you can just see the cogs constantly working in his head. I've gotta agree with Baelish, though- Sansa would make a better ruler of the North.
Jon: How should I be smarter? By listening to you?
Sansa: Would that be so terrible?
It might come across as Jon being a little misogynistic and while I do think he should value Sansa's opinion more, it's easy to forget that the last time he saw Sansa, she was a little girl begging to be betrothed to Joffrey. It's just gonna take some time for everyone to realise that Sansa is one of the smartest characters in this series now. They just need to stop underestimating her.
But we can also see some tension building between Sansa and Baelish which has actually been highly entertaining. Both-
Baelish: what do you want that you don't have?
Sansa: at the moment, a little peace and quiet
and-
Sansa: no need to seize the last word, Lord Baelish. I'll assume it was something clever.
had me laughing like crazy!!! It's nice to see Sansa finally growing into herself and becoming more confident and commanding.
In King's Landing, Cersei is desperately looking for allies and makes a deal with Euron and the Iron Islands. She wants his armada to fight for the Lannisters and Euron wants to marry Cersei. Poor Jaime looks horrified by the offer but Euron has gone to fetch a little gift for Cersei to sweeten the deal...
Over at the Citadel, Sam is stuck with some pretty boring and disgusting jobs but he does sneak inside the restricted section of the library (I feel like I'm talking about Harry Potter) and finds out that Dragonstone has lots of Dragonglass underneath which could be mined and used to kill white walkers! And off goes a raven to Jon!
We saw a little bit of the Hound in this episode and he's happily (as happily as the Hound does anything) travelling with the Brotherhood without Banners- ironically a group that's all about fire. As the Hound says himself- "it's my luck I end up with a group of fire worshippers."
They pass the same cottage he had with Arya a couple of seasons back and I actually found it so symmetrically lovely! The father and daughter were dead and it's a nice moment to see how much the Hound has grown because, instead of calling them dumb c-words as he once would've, he digs a grave and buries them. (I'm betting now that they come back as white walkers).
And finally, we had Daenerys Stormborn, of House Targaryen, Breaker of Chains, Queen of the Andals, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea and blah blah blah. We left season 6 with her on a ship headed to Westeros and it was a magical moment to see her finally arrive to the place she was born.
Watching her gaze up at Dragonstone and to see how far she's come from season 1... it's awe-inspiring. Dragonstone is so beautiful but, damn, there's a lot of stairs to walk up.
I love how there's absolute silence as she takes it all in- Dragonstone, the throne room, the map room.... and then suddenly, "shall we begin?"
It's. Just. So. Freaking. Good!
Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoughts. Stay amazing!
