May/ June Haul 2019

As I lost track of blogging last month and haven't actually bought that much recently (pat on the back for me), I'm combining my May and June book purchases.

Vox- Christina Dalcher
This feels like ages ago now but I bought this book in the beginning of May and read it straight away because it was awesome. It's an amazing but terrifying premise where women are only allowed to speak a certain number of words a day otherwise they get shocked. I read this book back in May and it was absolutely amazing.

March Book Haul 2019

Only two books this month and my bank account is weeping with joy at that fact. It's also trying to prepare itself for May because Spring is when all the amazing releases come out... it's gonna be hard time for us all.

The Near Witch- V. E. Schwab (Signed Edition!!!)
I've been keeping my eye out for this book for a while because, if you don't know, I'm currently binge reading anything and everything V. E. Schwab. I've read Vicious, the Shades of Magic series and am currently working through the Monsters of Verity duology... you could say I've grown a healthy obsession (it's healthy, I promise!). The Near Witch is V. E. Schwab's newest release and can you imagine my excitement when I found a signed copy at my local Waterstones? It wasn't even a conscious decision to buy this book- my hand was grabbing it and taking it to the till before I could even process what was happening.

She Must Be Mad- Charly Cox
I'd never heard of this book before but it caught my eye on the shelf and looked interesting. I like a good poetry book every now and then so I decided to pick it up. I had a flick through it and the poems seem to be in a very similar style to Rupi Kaur and Amanda Lovelace so I have no doubt I'm gonna love it.

February Book Haul 2019

February was Victoria Schwab month for no reason other than I was just in the mood for her books. I've only actually read one Victoria Schwab book before (Vicious), so I'm really hoping it wasn't a fluke and that I love all of her books.

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2)- V. E. Schwab
A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic #3)- V. E Schwab 
I went a little crazy with V. E. Schwab this month... no regrets. I've had the first book of this series for a couple of years but have never picked it up because I like reading series back-to-back - especially when all the books are released. I hate waiting and I've heard so many great things about this series. (And so far, having just finished the first book, I'm so happy I got these because waiting would've been painful!)

Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2)- V. E. Schwab
And since I was on a V. E. Schwab roll, I thought, what the heck, let's just buy all of her books that the bookstore has. Again, I've had the first book of this series for a while, This Savage Song, but I'm hesitant to go into them without knowing I could read the whole series in one. Now I don't have to worry about that! (Though, I'm not sure of this series is a duology or longer...)

January and Birthday Haul 2019

January is always a pretty successful month because it's my birthday so I got lots of awesome fandom stuff and I'm so grateful!!!!!

Walking Disaster- Jamie McGuire
The first buy of 2019 and it was a steal! I found this at a charity shop for £1 and it still in pretty good condition! Walking Disaster is effectively the story of Beautiful Disaster but in the guy's point of view. Beautiful Disaster was a total guilty pleasure read for me so I'm sure I'll like this one just as much.

Kingdom of Ash- Sarah J. Maas (American Hardcover)
Please don't judge me!!! I really needed this! Yes, I already have a paperback of this book but this was the American Hardback edition! It was too beautiful to resist! I read this book last year and it's one of my all-time favourites so, when I found the stunning American hardcover in a bookshop, it would've been a crime not to buy it. I also have the American copy of Empire of Storms when I went to New York a couple of years ago so that beautiful hardcover was feeling lonely and needed a friend... which I couldn't say no to.

December and Christmas Haul 2018!!!

G'morning G'night- Lin Manuel Miranda
I got this early in the month as a gift from my mum which was the sweetest thing ever! It was a celebratory gift for me passing my driving test and it's a book I've been needing for a while! Lin Manuel Miranda is the writer of the musical Hamilton and this book is a compilation of his inspirational tweets. I've been reading it exactly how it should be read- one tweet in the morning and one in the evening. Sure, it means I'm only getting through two pages a day and it'll probably take me months to finish, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Queen of Air and Darkness- Cassandra Clare
This book was an extremely anticipated release for a lot of people and, honestly, I think I just bought it for the sake of it. I have the giant and beautiful editions of the first two books in this trilogy so I had to get the same version before they switched it to a smaller edition simply so they would match. But, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I may not get any of Cassandra Clare's books in the future. I feel like the Shadowhunter world has stretched on too long now and getting myself to read each book seems like a chore. I've got so little time to read and so little bookshelf space that all these spin-off book planned for the Shadowhunter world just isn't worth it to me anymore.

November Book Haul 2018

Not many books this month because Christmas is coming up and my bank account is pleading with me to let it breathe so... let's begin this short and sweet post.

Tied Up In You- Erin Fletcher (Kindle Ebook)
This was an ultimate impulse buy because this is the sequel to the book, All Laced Up, which I received as an arc last year and loved!! I had no idea there was a sequel following other characters so I immediately downloaded it onto my kindle.

The Darkest Star- Jennifer L. Armentrout 
I actually ordered this book last month but it just came this week and I'm so excited! I've actually already read an arc of this book a couple of months ago but I definitely want to give it a re-read soon! JLA is one of my all-time favourite authors and this book is a spectacular start to the Origin series- a spin off to the Lux series. This book is just so beautiful, inside and out, and fits in perfectly with my JLA collection.

October Book Haul 2018

October was the month of poetry and new releases for me. As always, I start to buy less and less books on the lead up to Christmas (understandably) but I still did pretty well this month.

To Make Monsters Out of Girls- Amanda Lovelace
This was an impulse buy. I just saw the beautiful hardcover and saw that it was written by my favourite author and naturally gravitated towards it. Amanda Lovelace is an amazing poet and this is the first book in her new poetry series. I've been bogged down by a lot of work and stress recently so reading a quick and easy poetry book is the most appealing thing in the world to me right now.

And as I was getting one poetry book, I thought 'what the hell?' and just got another to complete my Amanda Lovelace collection. This is the sequel to The Princess Saves Herself In This One which I absolutely loved so I have high hopes for this one too.

September Book Haul 2018

I did pretty well this month and managed to restrain myself from buying too many of the new releases from this month. There's hope for my bank account yet...

Sharp Objects- Gillian Flynn
Ever since watching the HBO mini-series, I've been itching to read the book and see the differences of the story. This is such a captivating story with so much darkness, mystery and intrigue and I just had to add it to my collection. I consciously chose to pick up the adaptation cover rather than the original which is something I don't usually do but this cover is gorgeous!! The original is pretty plain and boring where the TV version is so creepy and aesthetically pleasing so I just threw aside my principles this one time and bought it. It also works well as I have the movie cover of Gone Girl as well so, I think it'll be a tradition for me to always watch the adaptation versions of Flynn's books first as well as buying the adaptation cover.



Catwoman: Soulstealer- Sarah J. Maas
I feel the need to start off by saying that I'm 100% a Marvel fan and never want myself to be tainted by DC. However, I picked up this book, not for the superhero, but for the author because I have an undying loyalty to Sarah J. Maas. I don't have super high expectations of this book because I think it'll be a little weird reading a SJM book that isn't high fantasy but, I have faith in her.

July Book Haul 2018

I got four books this month which I'm really happy about. They're all books that I've desperately been meaning to read so they make a great addition to my ever-growing, shelf-collapsing collection.


Save the Date- Morgan Matson
I've been anticipating this book for so long and, as soon as I saw it sitting beautifully on a shelf, I knew I had to get it. Morgan Matson writes some of the best contemporary books and I've no doubt that I'll love this one too.

A Thousand Perfect Notes- C. G. Drews 
I've been wanting to read this book for a while and it was actually last month's Book of the Month but I couldn't find it anywhere so couldn't read it in time! Now that I've found it, I can catch up with reading it.

June Book Haul 2018

Not many books this month but a couple is a lot better than nothing.

I was in Waterstones (as I tend to be) and I saw this book presented so lovingly on the shelf and I just gravitated towards it. Whenever I'm feeling down or vulnerable emotionally, I find that reading poetry is a great outlet- writing and reading it. Reading poetry is so comforting because they sum up feelings so beautifully and eloquently and it has an amazing ability to make you feel less alone. This book has had a lot of hype and is in a similar style to Rupi Kaur who is one of my favourite poets.
I've actually already read this during this month and I can say that it's my favourite poetry anthology. If you like poetry, go straight to Amanda Lovelace.

May Book Haul 2018

I did pretty well this month. Lately, I haven't really bought many books but I got three this month which I'm super happy with.

A Court of Frost and Starlight (ACOTAR #3.5)- Sarah J. Maas
Unsurprisingly, I had this book pre-ordered the second it became available (if only to get the free Night Court pin that came along with it). This is maybe my favourite cover of the whole series because everything comes together beautifully: the image of Feyre, the Night Court tattoo and symbol, the quote, the background... it's a cover fit for a High Lady, that's for sure. The only downside to this book is... it's tiny! It's only around 200 pages which is definitely the smallest ever Sarah J. Maas book. Nevertheless, it's my most anticipated book of the year and I can't wait to read it.

April Book Haul 2018

My bookshelf may hate me because it's sagging under too much weight and my wallet may hate me because it's getting real lonely in there but... more books!!!!

The Never Dawn- R.E Palmer
I was contacted by Roy this month and he was so kind as to send me a physical copy of his book in exchange for an honest review. From the synopsis, The Never Dawn gives me super Red Rising (Pierce Brown) vibes and I've only heard good things so I'm excited to get into the story and review it soon.





Restore Me (Shatter Me #4)- Tahereh Mafi 
Restore Me came out last month and I finally got around to buying. I love the Shatter Me trilogy so much and as soon as I heard we'd be getting another three books, I was eagerly waiting to get my hands on them. This series has amazing characters, a gripping plot and a beautiful romance that will certainly keep you satisfied.

March Book Haul 2018

This may be the shortest book haul I've done in a long while but... look at me having all this newfound self-restraint when it comes to buying books. (Or it could be because I'm broke but we'll skip over that...) So, this month, only one book to haul (although, it's a damn good book).

The Prophecy (Titan #4)- Jennifer L. Armentrout 
You may or may not know that Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favourite authors (along with Sarah J. Maas) and that means I had to buy this book immediately- it's basic loyalty. The Titan series is a spin-off series to JLA's the Covenant series so you'd have to read those books first but it's completely worth it! Trust me- those books are amazing. The Titan series basically follows the same characters but focuses on a different two- telling a new story in their perspectives.
The Titan series is a New Adult series compared to the Covenant books being Young Adult so these books and a little bit more... steamy, shall we say.
I love this series so much and I'm so sad to see it ending- these characters mean the world to me. They've inspired me, cheered me up and I'll always wish that they were real and that I could be their friends.
I'm so excited to read this finale and read the (hopefully) happy ending that these characters damn well deserve. And no doubt, it'll be amazing because every single one of JLA's books are stunning.

February Book Haul 2018

I'll admit, I went a little crazy with buying books this month but, in my defence, I have lots of birthday money and gift cards form last month so it's a totally justifiable haul. I promise.

Rebel Spring (Falling Kingdoms #2)- Morgan Rhodes

Frozen Tides (Falling Kingdoms #4)- Morgan Rhodes 
It may be a little obvious that I became obsessed with this series this month (as you'll also see in my Wrap Up). But, as I stormed through the first book, I soon realised that I needed to marathon this series and went to work in acquiring all the books. These books are super hard to find in the UK, so I decided to order them from Amazon and they came just in time!!

Scythe- Neal Shusterman 
This is another book that I've wanted to for so long!! I have heard endless hype for this series and the premise looks irresistible to me! I've heard only great things and I'm so excited to pick this up soon. Plus, the cover is beautifully captivating to me and looks gorgeous on my shelf.

January Birthday Haul 2018

I got a lot of amazing things this month as it was my birthday and my family and friends are amazing to get me so many lovely gifts. Without further adieu...

I also wanted to get an Amazon shirt dedicated to my favourite Marvel character because Iron Man is the reason I became obsessed with the MCU and Tony Stark is a brilliantly complex character who I adore.

December Christmas Book Haul 2017

Christmas came and went and books were collected. I don't get too many books for Christmas because all of my family try to avoid getting me books because everyone thinks that everyone else will get me them...

What's A Girl Gotta Do?- Holly Bourne
How Hard Can Love Be?- Holly Bourne 
These are the second two books in Holly Bourne's Spinster series. The first book, Am I Normal Yet?, was very good and has got me really excited for the rest of the series. Holly Bourne is one of my favourite contemporary authors- my favourite book of hers being, Soulmates, which reduces me to tears every time I read it. I'm particularly looking forward to What's A Girl Gotta Do? because it focuses on Feminism and that's just my sort of topic to sink my teeth into. 

November Book Haul 2017

I didn't get too many books this month but it is inching towards Christmas so my mind is too pre-occupied with buying presents for people. However, I did have a nice day out with Kaitlin from Liber Amoris and we may have indulged in a little book buying....


Poison Study series- Maria V. Snyder
I have always wanted to read this series but have only found two of them in a charity shop and I had no idea what order I had to read them. So, when I walked into a shop and saw the whole series in a cheap boxset.... my heart was too attached to walk by without taking them home. I have absolutely no space on my bookshelves for them but... that's a problem for another day.

Secrets for the Mad- dodie
Overall, I'm not a massive fan of Youtuber books just because of what they represent but... I've made an exception because Dodie Clark is my favourite ever Youtuber that isn't a Booktuber and I had to get this book. It's so beautiful and will likely make me cry but I'm totally okay with it. This also happens to me mine and Kaitlin's (Liber Amoris) Book of the Month for December!!!

That's all for this month but I'm pinning my hopes on December because it is Christmas... Hopefully my bookshelf will be able to take the weight.

October Book Haul 2017

Not many additions to my collection this month but as Christmas draws nearer, my book buying always decreases as I kinda need the cash to buy presents for people...

The Sun and Her Flowers- Rupi Kaur
I flicked through this in the book store, wondering if I should buy it and, when looking at a couple of the poems, I knew I had to own it. I'm not a massive poetry reader but glancing at this collection had me really excited to pick it up. The poetry looks really elegant and relatable.





Creative Journal 
I finished a Short Story Creative Writing course this month and one of the people there got me this as a gift because she knows how much writing means to me and thought I would like it. This was such a lovely gift and it will be really fun to wade through all the exercises and activities.

September Book Haul 2017

I didn't buy many books this month but the ones I did get are by a collection of my favourite ever authors so I can't complain too badly.

Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass #5.5)- Sarah J. Maas
I pre-ordered this book because Sarah J. Maas is one of my favourite authors and I need her books as soon as they release! I'm a bit hesitant to go into this one, however, because it's missing many of the regular protagonists' perspectives and focuses on a character that is.... no ones' favourite. I don't personally mind him but we're leaning on him heavily here....



Opposition (Lux #5)- Jennifer L. Armentrout 
I've already read this book multiple times but I hadn't yet bought it. I'm slowly but surely collecting all of JLA's books but she does have a good 50 books published so it may take a bit more time.
JLA is another of my favourite authors and everything I've ever read of hers is stunning! I'd recommend starting off with the Covenant series or the Lux series if you're being introduced to her work- you will not regret it.
