August Wrap Up 2017

I didn't do nearly as much as reading as I wanted to this month. It's summer!! I have all the free time in the world! And for some reason I can't bring myself to read! It's the vicious circle where, when I do have time to read, I don't feel like it and when I have no time to read, I'll cut into my sleeping time to get a chapter read. That's how life works.
Another big reason as to my lack of reading is my writing. My head is constantly stuck in my current novel (30,000+ and counting!!) and my love for it is overshadowing my reading. It's a blessing and a curse.

Geekerella- Ashley Poston (Book of the Month)
This was August's Book of the Month. I got straight into it and it was a super quick read. I loved the fandom spin on everything and it was truly a love letter to Geek Culture.
Geekerella- Ashley Poston BOOK TALK

Rarity from the Hollow- Robert Eggleton (ARC)
I was nicely sent this book from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.... that's coming soon, I swear. I'm very behind on book reviews right now (I haven't even started writing the Lord of Shadows one yet...). This book was extremely unique and delved deep into mental illness issues as well as having a sci-fi twist. I will say that this book was often confusing and it took willpower to continue reading- sometimes it was too crazy to continue.

November 9- Colleen Hoover (Re-read)
This was my third time reading this and I love it just as much as every other time. I tend to come back to this book every now and again because of it's pure perfection. I can't seem to part from it for too long- withdrawal symptoms.
Colleen Hoover is a master of contemporary books and I'd always recommend her to everyone. Her books will tear your souls open.... enjoy!

Red Queen- Victoria Aveyard (Re-read)

I've been meaning to continue this series for so long. I first read Red Queen ages ago and a re-read was definitely in order, I enjoyed it a lot but did take down my star rating to four stars- I was a bit too generous in giving it five stars the first time.

Glass Sword (Red Queen #2)- Victoria Aveyard
While I haven't technically finished this, I've only taken a short break and will return to it soon I hope. The story was just getting too predictable, too repetitive and I needed to take some time away from it. Having said that, it's still a great book and I will be continuing the series. In the meantime I've picked up another series....

Daughter of Smoke and Bone- Laini Taylor
I found the whole trilogy in the library, picked them up on a whim and now I'm hooked. I'm slightly worried because I've heard that the books go down hill but this first one is superb so far. I like the characters, the writing style and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoguhts- what did you read this month? Stay amazing!
Chloe
