This episode was particularly exciting as we had a big reveal that confirmed a theory that I and many other people had. I'm so excited for how we're going to progress from here and what the consequences of this episode will be.
I also think the title for this episode, Trompe L'Oeil, is really clever (along with everything else in this show) because it actually means 'deceives the eye' in French which describes this episode perfectly. Honestly, the writers for this show are genius.

SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD-SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD
Starting with Maeve, I'm falling in love with her more and more every week. She ensures that she's killed once more and wakes herself up again so she's back with Felix. This time, she sees that the tech team are decommissioning Clementine and Maeve decides she wants out. With a quick threat to Felix and asshat, she begins her plans to get the hell out of Westworld once and for all and I'm so pumped! It's amazing how her and Dolores have similar storylines (trying to learn about the world and what they really are) but they have completely different ways of going about that.... and Maeve's method is much better. And more effective.
Dolores, meanwhile, is travelling with William and Lawrence and her relationship with William is progressing. They have a nice intimate moment where they say that they don't have to pretend with each other like they do in their own world and they go on to have some sexy time... William obviously doesn't mind the fact that he's falling in love with an android.
There is a big theory going around that William (or maybe Logan) is the Man in Black and the events we're seeing are from two different timelines. I'd love for this to be true but... there's a plot hole. Dolores is breaking her loop and finding out about the real world with William now... but earlier, with the Man in Black, she was still in her loop. Would all the progress she made with William really be wiped out for good?
We saw more of Charlotte Hale and, after having sexy time with Hector the Host, she talks with Theresa about firing Ford once and for all. They take Clementine our of Westworld to make an example of her- how the hosts are malfunctioning and how they're a danger to the guests. They make quick work of decommissioning Clementine and firing Bernard even though the whole thing was a set-up.
That's when things gets super interesting- I was on the edge of my seat, freaking out through the entire thing.
Bernard starts the episode with a flashback of his son in hospital and also has niggling worries about where Elsie is- I'm worried too! Who has her?
He confronts Theresa about her smuggling data from the park and there's actually a genuine reason- in case Ford destroys all the data when they fire him.

Bernard shows Theresa the hosts that Ford has of his childhood memory. Our first concrete hint that Bernard isn't human is when he can't see the door- when he was previously talking about hosts being programmed to ignore the house- they could be looking straight at it and still not see it. The same idea goes for Bernard and the door.
They go in and find all Ford's equipment- how he's been creating unregistered hosts. Ford catches them down there and we finally have the big reveal that Bernard is a host. I had been suspecting this for quite a while but watching them both react to it.... was so intense!
Ford gets Bernard to kill Theresa and it's brutal! Will he make a host of her to cover up the murder? And will he wipe Bernard's memory so he forgets that he's a host?
I'm so excited!!!
We also had a lovely Ford quote and I just had to copy it down because it's beautiful and so true!
I read a theory once that the human intellect was like peacock feathers. Just an extravagant display intended to attract a mate. All of art, literature, a bit of Mozart, William Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and the Empire State Building. Just an elaborate mating ritual. Maybe it doesn't matter that we have accomplished so much for the basest of reasons. But, of course, the peacock can barely fly. It lives in the dirt, pecking insects out of the much, consoling itself with it's beauty.
Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoughts- any theories? Stay amazing!
Chloe
