Cinder- Marissa Meyer BOOK TALK

I bloody loved this book- but that was to be expected, right?
I love retellings, sci-fi, romance and fantasy so it was a match made in heaven. This book is a Cinderella retelling (if you hadn't gathered before) and it was just stunning. The whole fairytale and fantasy world was created beautifully and it gripped me from the very beginning.
I know I'm a bit late on this train but... better late than never, okay?
We've already seen hints of characters that I assume will be explored more in further books and I'm so excited! This is lining up to be an epic series and I'm so glad I've finally picked these beauties up.

I loved the blend of retellings and sci-fi. The prospect of cybonetic-organisms isn't too far off a realistic future for us- we already have prosthetic limbs so the idea of creating robotic parts to the human body isn't too far fetched and unrealistic (although outcomes like the Terminator come to mind...)

I liked the twist of the original tale. It was nice to see that Peony was actually so lovely and broke out of the evil stepsister trope. I was devastated when she died was kind of to be expected at that point- the idea of cure being found just in the nick of time was a little too far fetched.
Cinder is an amazing heroine. She's feisty, cool, compassionate and super sassy. All her gadgets and technology was so fascinating and I love that she's a simple mechanic but secret Luna Queen!
But, battling for my affections, is Iko. Iko is beyond amazing. I love her so much- she's hilarious- and I was so freaking mad when Adri got rid of her! I'm confident she'll come back and I just can't wait!! Finding Iko a body needs to be a top priority!
Kai is also a very dreamy fellow, I must say. Of course he's going to be incredibly swoon-worthy (I wouldn't expect anything less) and obviously I ship Cinder and Kai so much it bloody well hurts.
The end section of this book was so well written and intense that I simply couldn't put the book down. Queen Levana is pure evil but is wickedly brilliant at the same time- the plot and story created was complex and so gripping. I love the idea of Luna and the creation of this alternate world.
I'm so excited about the fact that we've seen glimpses of future characters in this book. I take it that Winter is the 13 year old that Queen Levana made rip up her face- understandable when following Snow White's tale. And I'm also assuming that Queen Levana's programmer is Cress (Rapunzal) due to the long messy hair and being trapped. Scarlet is the only person we haven't heard of but she's in the next book so it won't be too long.
I'm reluctant but excited to read Scarlet at the same time because I don't want to be introduced to a new set of characters- I want to follow Cinder and Kai! I hope we get to see them a lot of the time as I want to see more Cinder POVs and what happens between her and Kai- fall in love hopefully.
I cannot believe that she's Princess Seline! Someone get Kai on the phone this instant!! I'm so sad he'll think she betrayed him and will hate her forever! My babies need to be together! I knew that Cinder's past before turning into a cyborg was something different to what she thought but I never expected her to be a princess! I need Kai to find out!

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoughts below! Stay amazing!
