I can't believe it's taken me so long to do this tag! I've loved this musical for years now and it's only just occurred to me to find a book tag about it... better late than never, I suppose.
I found this tag on Book Amino so I'll link that here if you're interested!
Anybody Have a Map?- a book/series with great parental figures
The Titan series- Jennifer L. Armentrout
Honestly, I'm just saying this because Apollo is one of my favourite characters ever and he also happens to be a great dad. Sure, he makes a lot of mistakes, but his heart's always in the right place and, how he likes to say, he always takes care of his own.
Waving Through a Window- a character or book that doesn't get the attention it deserves
A Darker Shade of Magic- V. E. Schwab
Sure, V.E. Schwab is a pretty successful author, but her books aren't talked about enough! This series in particular is fantastic and I never see that much attention surrounding them. A Darker Shade of Magic has awesome characters, adventure, humour and a super cool system of magic- why isn't it getting more attention?!?
For Forever- a book with the best friendship
Cinder and Thorne- the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Cinder and Thorne's friendship is maybe the best part of this series. Sure, there's awesome sci-fi, a gripping plot and adorable ships but... Cinder and Thorne's banter and teasing just makes everything better! They make fun of each other and bicker a lot but they care so much for each other and grow really close.
Requiem- a character's death that didn't impact you very much, that you didn't care for
Lord of Shadows- Cassandra Clare
Obviously, I'm not gonna name this person because of spoilers but there was a certain girl who died at the end of this book and... I don't really care. Sorry. Honestly, I actually had to google it because I couldn't even remember her name and she's one of the main group of characters!!! I'm getting more and more distanced and 'meh' with Cassandra Clare books so, despite the intent for this to be a major death and have a major impact on the reader... I wasn't feeling it.
If I Could Tell Her- a couple you wish would just communicate better
America and Maxon- The Selection series by Kiera Cass
I read this series a very long time ago but, from what I can remember, this pair is terrible at communicating- mainly America, if I'm being honest. They take forever to get on the same page because they're never honest with each other and America never tells Maxon how she's truly feeling! It's beyond frustrating.
To Break in a Glove- a series that takes a while to get into but it's worthwhile
The Heroes of Olympus series- Rick Riordan
I think the whole fandom feels like the first book is the worst in the series because (and this isn't a spoiler) there's no Percy!! Instead, we get Jason as the main character and... I'm not a massive fan of Jason at all. But, once you get past the first book, they get better because Percy Jackson returns and all is right in the world once more. You just have to slog through the first book to get to the good stuff.
Only Us- a couple that took way too long to get together
Cleo and Magnus- The Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes
There's six books in this series and, really, it takes about five/six books for them to actually get together. Sure, I'll give them a pass for the first couple because they didn't actually know each other and Magnus was too busy pining over his sister while Cleo was working her way through a couple of guys but... it took them too long to admit they liked each other! They kept resisting it and questioning it every chance they got and so, by the end of the series, we barely got to see any time with them together and happy! They deserved more.
Good For You- a character who wished for a different life and got more than they bargained for
Yelena- Poison Study series by Maria V. Snyder
Yelena starts off as a prisoner so... duh, she wishes for a different life. She's offered a deal to become the King's food tester and from there, the whole book spirals out of control. There's a lot of magic in this series and, while I've only read the first two, Yelena becomes much more powerful than you'd ever think.
So Big/ So Small- a character with a traumatic past who's still strong and continues to fight on
Yael- Wolf by Wolf duology by Ryan Graudin
This book is set in an alternate history where Hitler won the war so Yael definitely had a traumatic past. She grew up in concentration camps and was experimented on but managed to escape and fights in the rebellion against Hitler. This book is about Yael trying to win a motorcycle race across the world because they winner gets to meet Hitler and her plan is to assassinate him... it's as cool as it sounds.
Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoughts. Stay amazing!
