Riverdale 1x02 'Chapter Two: A Touch of Evil' TV TALK

This was such a strong episode to follow the pilot- the plot thickened and we learnt a lot more about the mystery that's unravelling in this town.
So much happens in this show- it's only been two episodes but so much has freaking happened that I can't wrap my head around it! I did grow to like the characters a little more in this episode because I had serious cynical issues with the first episode and how cliche and sketchy all the characters were. This episode didn't need all the character introductions so we got to delve a little deeper into who everyone was which is fun to watch.
This series is an addictive mystery thriller and I'm already trying to figure out the murderer even though I have no idea at all... I can just feel like it'll be a big surprise. So far, this show has really impressed me.

TV TALKS
Season 1: 1x01

SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD- SPOILERS AHEAD
I spent the entire episode mainly sceptical over Betty's mum. There was the whole thing where she bribed the autopsy guy for some reason and there would be a clear motivation because of what happened to Polly but... I think it's too obvious to be her. We're only at episode two and having such an obvious person end up being the killer would be a little anticlimactic. In shows like this, you want to be totally shocked at the final reveal. So, Betty's mum may be a complete bitch but I don't think she killed Jason.
Betty is by far my favourite character- she's just perfection and way too pure for this existence. And my heart just bled for Betty this episode because, after forgiving Veronica and trying to be friends with Archie, she just can't handle it. Bless her little soul.
And honestly, I don't know why Archie's song made her get all nostalgic and sad because his song just made me cringe- it was actually really bad, I'm not kidding. I don't care how good looking this guy is- he can't sing. (Not that that's an important fact regarding the plot or anything).
Over to Archie.... he was still an idiot in this episode. It'll sure take a while for him to shed that label in my mind. The principal suspects Archie simply because they locked gazes for a second which was all a bit weird... What an odd and specific assumption that Archie had something to do with Jason from one look....
Archie goes to Miss Grundy to discuss whether they should go to the police and tell them they heard the gunshot but she persuades him not to because she's a manipulative bitch! (Can you tell I don't like her?) Archie is so naive to not see that she's screwing with him and only cares for herself. Why can't he see that?!?
But at least Jughead does. After seeing them together, he confronts Archie to try and knock some sense into him which Archie quickly proceeds to ignore because... again, he's an idiot.
And then we have the pep rally. There were pointless cheer-leading dancing and songs which left me wondering if this series was a damn musical...
Cheryl completely freaked out after hallucinating Jason at the pep rally. She started crying and ran off, completely breaking in the exact way she promised she wouldn't because everyone would be watching her... good job, Cheryl.
Archie goes to Jughead and tells him that he's planning to turn himself in about hearing the gunshot and it sounds like they're about to rekindle a friendship which makes me happy.
They meet up with Betty and Veronica at Pop's which was a lovely scene with them all together and having a laugh. But I found it strange how, as Jughead narrated this scene, he says that 'there were only three' kids sat there and he excludes himself. At first, I thought it meant that he didn't really feel there and part of the group. But then he goes on to say 'we were just kids' which would imply his inclusion but... that may be English student me looking too much into things. It just didn't add up in my head.
And then we finally finished on Cheryl being arrested and saying she's guilty and that might have been a good cliffhanger but I was not falling for it!!! They only said she was guilty but not what for. I don't for a second think she killed Jason.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment your thoughts. Stay amazing!
